For the Leadership Team
Better decisions begin with better conversations.
For the Leadership Team
Leadership teams shape far more than strategy. The way they think together, challenge one another, handle disagreement and make decisions travels through the whole organisation.
This work creates the conditions for clearer conversations, stronger collective judgement and more deliberate choices when the stakes are high and the answer is not obvious.
When capable people still make poor decisions together
A leadership team can be individually capable and still make poor collective decisions.
The problem is rarely a lack of intelligence. It is more often what happens between people: assumptions go untested, disagreement stays underground, louder voices dominate, difficult trade-offs are simplified, and decisions are made before the wider consequences have been properly considered.
Under pressure, these patterns intensify. Teams move faster, narrow the frame, protect positions and mistake alignment for agreement.
The result is not just a difficult meeting. It can become strategic drift, inconsistent execution, mistrust, duplicated effort and decisions that make sense locally but create problems elsewhere in the organisation.
Better collective judgement requires more than good individuals. It requires the conditions for challenge, candour and consequence-thinking.
The quality of a leadership team’s decisions is shaped by the quality of the conversation that precedes them.
What happens when the team does not work well as a system
When a leadership team cannot think well together, the consequences spread quickly.
- Important disagreements stay unresolved or move underground.
- Decisions take longer, or get revisited because commitment was never real.
- Different leaders interpret priorities differently.
- People further down the organisation receive mixed messages.
- Local decisions optimise one part of the business while creating problems elsewhere.
- Trust weakens because people stop believing difficult issues will actually be surfaced and addressed.
Poor collective judgement rarely stays contained in the leadership team. It becomes an organisational problem.
Ways to work with me
Leadership Team Roundtable
Private Leadership Team Roundtable
A facilitated session designed to surface assumptions, different perspectives and the tensions that need to be made explicit before the team can move forward.
Decision/ Transition Workshop
Deeper collective thinking when something significant is changing.
A structured working session to understand the issue, challenge assumptions, explore trade-offs and build clarity about what needs to happen next.
Bespoke Leadership Team Development
Ongoing development built around the real work of the team.
A tailored programme for leadership teams that want to strengthen how they think together, challenge one another, make decisions and lead through complexity over time.
Who it’s for:
For leadership teams facing decisions, change or complexity that cannot be solved by one person alone.
This work is particularly useful when:
- the team is capable, but not always aligned on what matters most;
- important disagreement is being avoided, softened or left unresolved;
- a significant decision or transition needs more rigorous collective thinking;
- different parts of the business are pulling in different directions;
- the team needs to challenge assumptions without damaging trust;
- the organisation is changing faster than the team’s ways of working together;
- leaders need to move from individual viewpoints towards a genuinely shared understanding of what happens next.
The aim is not forced consensus. It is better collective judgement and enough clarity to act together.
Why it works:
The work happens through the real work of the team.
There is no artificial separation between developing the team and dealing with the issues the team actually needs to solve.
Real decisions, tensions and organisational challenges become the material for the work. Facilitation creates enough structure and distance to interrupt familiar patterns, bring different perspectives into the room and keep the conversation moving towards something useful.
The team is involved in making sense of the issue and shaping what happens next, the outcome is not an answer handed to them from outside. It is something they have interrogated, contributed to and are capable of carrying forward together.
The aim is not a better workshop. It is a leadership team better able to do the work that comes after it.
Let’s talk about what your team needs next
If your leadership team is working through a consequential decision, transition or period of change, the starting point is a conversation.
